The Process of Getting Your Site

Picture of the Cartridge World shop in Oswestry with the Cartridge World branded mini car parked outside. Call me. You have nothing to loose. I will talk through your requirements with you and together we can discuss whether and how I can get you online.

Once we have outlined your requirements, assuming you commission me to build you a site I will put together a mock up of a layout which I think might you will be able to look at this yourself and start to get your own ideas of what sort of content you might like. From this mock up we will start to identify the site navigation and pages you want in your site.

Once we have agreed a mock up you will then need to send me copies of your logo. I will then work this into the page layout for the site so that you can have some idea of what your site will look like. I will also populate your site with meaningless text just so that you get a feel for the overall impression given by your site.

By now we will have a working model of your website. At this point the job moves over to you to provide me with some text for the pages and some meaningful photos. These could be pictures of you, your business, your products or just library images relevant to your site. The text you send me doesn’t have to be much more than just bullet points for me to build some meaningful page content from. The more pages you have the more you will need to write. You may even prefer just to dictate something and send me the recording. We can cater for this as long as you warn me first that this is your intention. This stage is really about you providing me with the information about your business to fill the site. You may have already done this to create other promotional material such as leaflets.

Once I have this content I will format it into your site. We can then have a final review on the phone where you have the chance to amend any aspect of the text, colour, images etc before we consider your site complete.

Finally we arrive at the first point you have to part with money. Up until now everything which has been done has been done at my expense. The only commitment you have had to make is to give up enough of your time to give me the details I require to build your site. By now we will have completed the site. You will be aware of what costs will have been incurred as these will have been discussed on the phone before hand. I will invoice you for the sum of money agreed (usually just £50 for the annual hosting account and possible some domain registration fees if you want me to register your domain for you) and as soon as I receive the payment your site will go live.

During this process we will have discussed your domain name. If you have a domain name already I will work with you to get it pointing at your site. If you don’t have a domain name then I will guide you through the process of setting one up or if you wish do it for you. I will not actually register a domain for you until the invoice has been paid.

I will help you set up email addresses at whatever domain you have chosen if you require them. This will allow you to have anything@yourdomain.com (or .co.uk or whatever). If you require it I will also provide phone support for you to set up your computer to receive the email using Microsoft Outlook or whatever email client you choose.

This is it, your site will be live. There are a whole range of other services which we can offer now you have your site. All of them are optional and whether they are of interest will depend on what you want to get from your site.
